Here at Ozark Mountain Leather, we have several styles of slings to choose from: slings for guns with sling swivels, and slings for guns without swivels, slings with thumbholes and slings without, we offer a 1-inch strap sling, and cobra-shaped sling. There are so many choices that it takes time to decide. I'll try to explain more here and help you determine what sling suits you. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us  here.

Slings for guns with swivels. We call these "Rifle slings" on our website or in our Build Your Own section we call it "Build your own rifle sling (for a gun with swivels)." We also have the "Rifle Sling Visual Customizer." This helps you see the sling as it is being designed.

Our custom leather rifle slings are two-point slings that attach to swivels on your gun. If your gun does not have sling swivels but has swivel attachment points, then you can purchase a set here or at any sporting goods store.

Our custom leather rifle slings are crafted with precision and attention to detail. They are designed to fit a sling swivel 1 inch or larger and are adjustable in length for a personalized fit. Most of our slings are lightly padded with a second layer of 8 to 9-oz leather, a testament to our commitment to quality and durability. We've found that leather padding holds up much better and longer than rifle slings with synthetic quilting or padding, ensuring that you get a reliable product that lasts.

Our standard sling for a gun with swivels measures 42 inches, with 10 inches of adjustability to make it shorter. However, we understand that every customer is unique, and we're more than happy to accommodate your specific needs. If you require a longer sling, or if you're shopping for a younger hunter, we can create a custom order just for you. Your satisfaction is our priority, so please feel free to contact us for any special requests.

  • I have enclosed some photos at the end of the post to show the differences between the slings discussed here. Our cobra-style sling measures 15 inches at the shoulder, 3 inches at the widest point, and narrows slightly going down. The overall length is 42 inches, and the shoulder straps are adjustable 10 inches, the widest point of the shoulder st. This style is more classic in design.
  • The slim-style sling measures 15 inches at the shoulder and has a 2.5-inch wide shoulder strap. Its overall length is 42 inches, and the strap is 10 inches adjustable. This style is more sleek and modern-looking.
  • Our newest design is the thumbhole-style sling. It measures 19 inches at the shoulder and 3 inches at the widest point of the shoulder strap and narrows some down the shoulder. The overall length is 42 inches with 10 inches of adjustability. The thumbhole measures 2 inches x 1.75 inches. The thumbhole is large enough to use while wearing gloves and is very functional.

We get asked a lot about the difference between our rifle slings and our shotgun slings. Our Rifle slings or slings made for guns with swivels are made to fit a sling swivel 1 inch or bigger. If your rifle does not already have them but does have the attachment for them, we have sling swivels for sale on our website. We will be putting together a little video soon to show you how to attach the sling to the swivels.

Our custom leather Shotgun slings or a sling made for a gun without swivels will work for a rifle that does not have sling swivels or sling swivel studs to put the swivels on. Our custom leather shotgun slings are designed to slide over the stock and the barrel of the gun. Some hunters like the shotgun sling so they can take it off easily while in the field when they get to their hunting spot, and some need this style for their type of gun. Of course, they are also made for shotgun use as well. Our custom leather shotgun slings are very versatile. You can also customize them just as much as you can with the custom leather rifle slings.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with us and let us know if you have any questions about our custom leather shotgun and our custom leather rifle slings made by hand here in our shop in Arkansas using full grain leather from Hermann Oak and Law Tanning tanneries.  (both tanneries here in the United States).
